Are you looking for a private school in Olympia for your child that they will love so much they just might come back and teach there, years later? Evergreen Christian School currently has three teachers who are former students, speaking volumes about the impression it leaves. They recently expanded their preschool and kindergarten programs to include children as young as 2 years old, and they have openings for enrollment for the 2025-2026 school year.
“Our Early Learning Program daily schedule offers creative and dynamic experiences that engage every learning style,” shares Megan Lindberg, preschool director at Evergreen Christian School.

Developing the Whole Student at Evergreen Christian School
Starting with the youngest children in their care, Evergreen Christian School operates with a holistic viewpoint – helping your child develop academically, physically, emotionally and spiritually. With low student-teacher ratios, children’s individual needs are met at each level: transitional kindergarten for four- and five-year-old students, kindergarten, elementary school and middle school.
“We focus on more than academics in the classroom,” explains Megan. “We have a reward program that acknowledges students and rewards them for on track behavior. We intertwine expectations and social and emotional development with academics in the classroom.”
For the Early Learning Program, parents can choose from morning or afternoon class options for their child. Traditional kindergarten class is an all-day option, providing extensive preparation for kindergarten readiness. Students in Transitional Kindergarten through eighth grade attend chapel and have additional lessons taught by specialists, including music and physical education, which are all part of educating the whole child.
“Our Early Learning Program at Evergreen Christian School is specifically designed to meet each student where they are at in all areas of development,” shares Megan. “We work with each student on social/emotional skills to help them recognize emotions, care for their peers and problem solve within both small and large groups. Students are encouraged and taught to be leaders among their peers, and nurtured in receiving the love of Jesus from our caring staff, engaging Bible curriculum, and participating in our school-wide chapel.”
According to the Washington State Department of Children, Youth & Families, 52% of youth in Washington state are not ready for kindergarten. Evergreen Christian School’s Early Learning Program focuses on making sure your child is kindergarten-ready, physically, mentally and emotionally. “Through both free and structured play, hands-on learning experiences, and engaging curriculum, our students develop fine and gross motor skills along with academic and phonemic awareness for kindergarten readiness,” shares Megan.
Imagine your child’s day at preschool. Learning social cues, how to work with peers and cooperate, and engaging in circle time to enhance listening skills and following directions, followed by a fun kinesthetic (learning through movement) lesson that gets them out of their seats. A craft activity or dance may help with gross motor skills. Prayer and lessons on God and Jesus support your child’s spiritual wellbeing. Snacks, outdoor play and our optional lunch program round out the day.
“The first five years of life are some of the most critical years in brain development for a child,” shares Megan. “By the age of 5, a child’s brain is approximately 90% developed. This rapid development in the early years is crucial for a child’s learning, thinking, and overall wellbeing. We provide a solid education with high academic standards. We also focus on partnering well with families and developing the whole student.”

An Olympia Private School That’s Really a Positive Community
We all know how much our school experience shaped the person we became as an adult. Evergreen Christian School strives to provide a positive community that is nurturing and supportive at all grade levels: early learning classes, kindergarten, elementary and middle school.
Just one example of this is their beloved buddy system that pairs older kids with younger children. “Students can connect and learn how to be a mentor and also enjoy having a buddy to look up to,” explains Megan.
This private school in Olympia also has a no-cut sports program for fifth grade and up. Children participate in a league with both private and public schools. Ages 3 and up can also participate in Upward Sports, a program that offers mini-camps for younger athletes.
Events outside of school hours bolster the community further, like their Family Fall Festival and fun runs – this year, they are hosting a community color run on September 26.
In addition, most years, eighth graders can go on a mission trip to Guatemala at the end of the school year – teaching youth about sharing the gospel and helping others. It’s just another opportunity that Evergreen Christian School offers to provide whole-child development.
