The 2025 Tenino Oregon Trail Days Festival will feature the Tenino Lions Club Grand Parade, Cascadia Country with the Pioneer Village with 25 hands-on activities for families including, the 31st Annual WAMS Rock & Gem Rendezvous, the Cascadiens, Dutch Oven Society and Mountain Man Rendezvous, The Tenino Depot Museum 50th Anniversary Celebration of the Move of the Depot, Food Booths, Arts and Crafts Vendors, Oregon Trail Days Quilt Show, Tenino Young-At-Heart Theatre production of Disney’s The Little Mermaid, Creekside Conservancy Salmon Bake, Tenino Timberland Library Book Sale, Tenino Farmers Market Blue Ribbon Pie Contest, South Thurston Fire and EMS Demonstrations and Dunk Tank, Gospel Sunday Community Worship Service in the Park, and Capital City 3 on 3 Basketball Tournament. Visitors are encouraged to check out the Tenino City Park playground equipment, three pump tracks, trails, and the Tenino Quarry Pool while at the festival. WAMS Rock & Gem Rendezvous 9:00 a.m.- 6:00 p.m.
Washington Agate and Mineral Society, the state’s oldest organized rock club, is hosting its 31st Annual Rock, Gem, Fossil, and Mineral Show in conjunction with Tenino’s Oregon Trail Days celebration. The show is educational and fun for all ages. Who doesn’t like rocks? The show is a wonderful way to introduce your kids to science through geology. Admission to the show is free and is located at the Tenino City Park in Cascadia Country on the ball fields near the Blue Pump Track. The hours of the show are 9:00 am to 6:00 pm on Friday, July 25th, and Saturday, July 26th; 9:00 am to 5:00 pm on Sunday, July 27th. Twenty-two vendors will be selling a wide variety of rocks and minerals, jewelry, beads, gems, crystals, fossils, and lapidary equipment for rock cutting, polishing, etc. The club will have its beloved spinning wheel and door prize tickets for sale. Several demonstrators will be showcasing how to make stone arrowheads, knives, beads, and cabochons. There will also be demonstrations of rock polishing and sterling silver wire-wrapping.

Cascadia Country, located on the Ball Fields near the Blue Pump Track in the Tenino City Park will be home to Pioneer Village, WAMS Rock & Gem Rendezvous, Dutch Oven Society, Cascadiens, and Primitives Mountain Man Rendezvous.
Pioneer Village 10:00 a.m.- 4:00 p.m.
Pioneer Village Hands-on Activities at the Depot Museum- The best edutainment festival for families to share the experiences of what life was like for pioneers more than 100+ years ago.
- Axe Handle Making with a draw knife- Visitors will use a draw knife to shave a limb until it turns into an axe handle.
- Antler Jewelry- Visitors will cut antlers into pieces, drill holes in them, put string through the drilled holes and wear around neck as a necklace.
- Arrowhead Carving- Visitors will learn about Arrowheads and the opportunity to carve one out of wax.
- Blacksmithing- Visitors have the chance to watch as iron is heated in a forge and shaped by pounding it.
- Candle Making- Visitors will dip strings into melted wax to make a candle. Supplies provided by Swan Candles.
- Cascadien Group- Dressed in costume, the group sets up a historically accurate camp and performs various activities with visitors.
- Cedar Post and Rail Making- Visitors are invited to drive wedges into a log and continue to drive other wedges down the log until eventually the log splits, and rails and posts are created.
- Cedar Shake Making- Visitors will drive a Froe (or Frow) shake axe into a cedar block. Then pull back on the handle and a shake breaks off from the block.
- Cedar Bark- Rope-making exhibit.
- Corn Husk Dolls- Visitors have the opportunity to make small dolls with the husk of corn.
- Crosscut Saw Display
- Dutch Oven Cooking Demonstration- Visitors will sample a variety of treats that have been cooked in a Dutch Oven and learn about the process of cooking with it.
- Electric and Bicycle Sharpener displays- Visitors will sit and push pedals to turn the large round stone and witness axes and knives being sharpened.
- Lashing Sticks- Visitors will learn how to use twine to lash together sticks or poles to create features.
- Log Cabin Notching- Visitors will learn how to place a log on a sawhorse, saw two cuts, and then take a mallet and a wood chisel and carve out a notch.
- Log cutting with a Crosscut Saw- Visitors will place a log onto sawhorses, then two people will take the crosscut saw and pull back and forth to cut the log.
- Lumber Making with Carpenters Adze- Visitors learn how to lay a log on the ground, straddle it, and use an Adze to chip away, moving backwards to flatten one side. By continuing this process on all sides, the log eventually becomes lumber.
- Old Fashioned Toys- Visitors are invited to play with several different old toys used in the 1800’s.
- OHOP Pioneer Farm Activities- Visitors are invited to try out many different farm activities from the OHOP Valley near Eatonville.
- Pitchwood Fire Starter- Visitors will learn the history of Pitchwood and how it comes from an old stump in the woods. They will shave off several pieces and demonstrate how it can start a fire.
- Primitives- Mountain Man Rendezvous
- Rope Making- Visitors have the chance to use a 100-year-old device to twist three strings of twine to make it into rope.
- Textile Activities- Connect paper squares with designs and make a paper quilt.
- Trading Post- Display consisting of a variety of old and unique items that visitors may provide a donation for in order to take the item home.
- Washing Clothes with a Scrub Board and Wringer- Visitors have the chance to put clothes in a tub of soap and water, use the scrub board to clean them and then rinse the clothes in clean water, use the wringer to get rid of the water and then hang the clothes to dry.
- Wood Carving/Whittling- Visitors have the chance to use a pocketknife to carve and whittle on a stick to create a walking stick.
- Wood Chisel Carving- Learn to carve on Alder wood to make sculptures.
- Woodworking Station- Visitors can try out several old carpentry tools including hand drills, hammers, nail pullers and planner.
- Wood Carving- Use wood fine tools to create carvings out of pine boards.
Watch a new issue of Tenino Wooden Money be printed. The experience will feature historical displays about the Depot Move in 1975. There will also be displays about how the Oregon Trail came through Tenino. Visit the museum, pick up a scavenger hunt, learn about the Depot Move and adventure down the Old Oregon Trail. Friday through Sunday.

Creekside Conservancy Traditional Salmon Bake, Saturday, July 26, 2024, 11:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m., near the Quarry Pool lawn. Enjoy delicious Salmon and sides prepared by the Chehalis Tribe and Lucky Eagle Casino. $15 per person/ Flavored Sparkling water available for purchase. The proceeds go to support the Creekside Conservancy’s efforts to provide safe and healthy habitat for flora and fauna.

- Cedar Bark- Rope-making exhibit.
- Corn Husk Dolls- Visitors have the opportunity to make small dolls with the husk of corn.
- Crosscut Saw Display
- Dutch Oven Cooking Demonstration- Visitors will sample a variety of treats that have been cooked in a Dutch Oven and learn about the process of cooking with it.
- Electric and Bicycle Sharpener displays- Visitors will sit and push pedals to turn the large round stone and witness axes and knives being sharpened.
- Lashing Sticks- Visitors will learn how to use twine to lash together sticks or poles to create features.
- Log Cabin Notching- Visitors will learn how to place a log on a sawhorse, saw two cuts, and then take a mallet and a wood chisel and carve out a notch.
- Log cutting with a Crosscut Saw- Visitors will place a log onto sawhorses, then two people will take the crosscut saw and pull back and forth to cut the log.
- Lumber Making with Carpenters Adze- Visitors learn how to lay a log on the ground, straddle it, and use an Adze to chip away, moving backwards to flatten one side. By continuing this process on all sides, the log eventually becomes lumber.
- Old Fashioned Toys- Visitors are invited to play with several different old toys used in the 1800’s.
- OHOP Pioneer Farm Activities- Visitors are invited to try out many different farm activities from the OHOP Valley near Eatonville.
- Pitchwood Fire Starter- Visitors will learn the history of Pitchwood and how it comes from an old stump in the woods. They will shave off several pieces and demonstrate how it can start a fire.
- Primitives- Mountain Man Rendezvous
- Rope Making- Visitors have the chance to use a 100-year-old device to twist three strings of twine to make it into rope.
- Textile Activities- Connect paper squares with designs and make a paper quilt.
- Trading Post- Display consisting of a variety of old and unique items that visitors may provide a donation for in order to take the item home.
- Washing Clothes with a Scrub Board and Wringer- Visitors have the chance to put clothes in a tub of soap and water, use the scrub board to clean them and then rinse the clothes in clean water, use the wringer to get rid of the water and then hang the clothes to dry.
- Wood Carving/Whittling- Visitors have the chance to use a pocketknife to carve and whittle on a stick to create a walking stick.
- Wood Chisel Carving- Learn to carve on Alder wood to make sculptures.
- Woodworking Station- Visitors can try out several old carpentry tools including hand drills, hammers, nail pullers and planner.
- Wood Carving- Use wood fine tools to create carvings out of pine boards.
