Saint Martin’s University, through its Washington Vets to Technology (WaV2T) program, is expanding its established “Server and Cloud Application” career pathway to address the increasing need for Data Center Technicians. This focused adaptation is made possible through a new collaboration with global technology leader Oracle.
This 16-week, full-time program is designed to equip transitioning service members, veterans and military spouses with the in-demand academic, technical and professional skills needed to excel in the rapidly evolving information technology (IT) sector. The program combines rigorous classroom instruction, immersive labs, hands-on exercises and professional development activities on Saint Martin’s main campus in Lacey.
“This enhancement to our Server and Cloud Application pathway represents a powerful step forward for our transitioning service members, veterans and military spouses,” said Adam Takata, director of Washington Vets to Tech. “We’re aligning our training with one of the most essential sectors in today’s digital economy: data centers. The skills participants gain can open doors to employment opportunities and long-term career growth.”
Program participants will receive instruction in troubleshooting servers, managing inventory and logistics, and responding to operational incidents, among other key technical skills. They will also receive professional development support, including resume building, interview preparation and connection to a national network of hiring partners.
Students who complete the program will earn 18 college credits, an academic certificate from Saint Martin’s University, and interview opportunities with Oracle for eligible/qualified candidates for available positions. Certification vouchers for CompTIA Tech+ and CompTIA Linux+ are also included.
Oracle brings decades of innovation and industry leadership to this collaboration. As the company behind the world’s first autonomous database and the broadest suite of AI-powered cloud applications, Oracle supports more than 5 million developers and customers worldwide, with user communities in 97 countries. Its contributions to healthcare, enterprise IT and cloud infrastructure continue to shape industries globally.
“Saint Martin’s is proud to serve those who have served our country,” said Dave Olwell, Ph.D., interim provost at Saint Martin’s University. “This collaboration with Oracle not only strengthens our mission but delivers high-impact education to a community that deserves every opportunity to thrive in civilian life.”
