Izabelle Trefts (Jr.) of The Evergreen State College earned second place in the women’s 5,000-meter race walk at the 2025 NAIA Outdoor Track and Field Championships on Thursday, May 22, 2025. It was the second time Trefts has been an All-American in NAIA competition this year.

In the 5,000-meter race walk, Trefts registered a time of 23:22.79. She trailed only Olivia Lundman from University of British Columbia, who won the race walk in 22:22.79. Lundman’s time set the NAIA Championships record. Grace Forrest from University of Rio Grande (Ohio) placed third in 24:52.19. The top eight finishers were named All-Americans.

Earlier this year, Trefts won the women’s 3,000-meter race walk at the 2025 NAIA Indoor Track and Field Championships to become an All-American for the Geoducks.

“Another great performance by Izabelle!” Evergreen Head Cross Country and Track and Field Coach Joel Pearson said. “I am so proud of her preparation for this championship and her execution during her race! She had a great year that resulted in a national championship, two All-American honors, and qualifying for USA indoor and outdoor nationals! Another great day to be a Geoduck!”

“Izabelle has had a great comeback year!” commented Evergreen Assistant Cross Country and Track and Field Coach Katie Burnett. “Since indoor she’s put in the work to become one of the top walkers in collegiate history. Her second place today came from a year of growth both mentally and physically. We are so proud!”

It was the second time Trefts has been an All-American twice in the same year. In 2023, while attending Columbia College in South Carolina before transferring to Evergreen, she was the NAIA 3,000-meter indoor race walk champion and took second place in the NAIA 5,000-meter outdoor race walk. Overall, she has been named All-American four times between Evergreen and Columbia.

Evergreen will continue to compete at the 2025 NAIA Championships on Friday, May 23. Corona Parker (Sr.) will participate in the women’s high jump, which will begin at 2 p.m. ET / 11 a.m. PT.
