Congratulations, Coffee Pub NW, on celebrating your first anniversary. The friendly Tumwater public house (pub) has settled in. Owners Dawn and Craig Richards along with James Mickelson, Dawn’s brother, have been actively adding activities, revising the menu and getting to know everyone’s name. Coffee Pub NW is a comfortable environment for families, friends, and even work meetings. There’s coffee, freshly baked goods, and a menu that includes appetizers, hearty entrees and alcoholic beverages.
Coffee Pub NW in Tumwater Offers Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner
“It’s been busy,” muses Dawn on the past year. “We increased the breakfast menu and added more burgers,” she adds. Since you will usually find both Dawn and Craig on site, they are ready to listen to their customers suggestions. One new item is the biscuit burrito.
There is also a double patty burger with candied jalapenos (cowboy candy), grilled onions, bacon, cheese and pub sauce.
Coffee Pub NW brings together a unique combination of elements under one roof. There are beers on tap and bottled, and this Tumwater cafe has gluten-free beers too. Customers can have a glass of wine or order a cocktail from the full bar. Test your luck at pull-tabs. The barista will make your favorite coffee drink from the award-winning Italian roasts from Caffé D’arte. Are you in a hurry? Go through the drive-up window or order a meal ahead to pick up.
Local Tumwater Restaurant Smokes Meet Meat on Site
Craig is all about cooking meat right on site. He has his own smoker and keeps the heat on for brisket, pork and chicken. Smoked brisket is quite a treat. The pork belly tacos have been popular since the beginning. The corn tortillas are topped with smoked pork belly, Craig’s original Cascade slaw, pickled red onions, candied jalapenos, cotija cheese, cilantro and chipotle crème sauce. Expand your taco palate with the taco flight that includes one with the pork belly, one with pulled chicken and the other with brisket. The smash burger is another favorite served with a bundle of condiments on a Brioche bun. Yes, you can find tater tots, too. Eat them pristine or go for the totchos – think nachos with tots instead of chips.

Cece, the in-house baker, keeps people happy with pastries, cinnamon rolls and other treats. She bakes her own scones, muffins and bite-sized cheesecakes and cupcakes, to name a few. She is working on adding gluten-free options.

How about that Holiday Tree? There’s a year-round tree for seasonal decorations. What started as a Christmas tree has evolved to permanent status with décor changing with the seasons and holidays.
