During election season, especially in years when regional, state and national races overlap, the names and faces of political hopefuls can get lost in the crowd. But our elected officials have tremendous impact, so knowing where they stand on key issues is vital. On Wednesday, October 2, 2024, sign up for the Lacey South Sound Chamber’s Forum to hear from Gubernatorial Candidate Dave Reichert.

Networking With Fellow Businesses at the Lacey South Sound Chamber Forum

The Lacey South Sound Chamber’s regular monthly Forum lunches are held the first Wednesday of each month at the Indian Summer Golf & Country Club. This event includes networking opportunities as well as educational speakers, the chance to browse display tables from local businesses and a celebrated Business of the Month.

Tickets to the Forum are $30 in advance or $35 at the door. Registration kicks off at 11:30 a.m. and programming begins at noon. October’s keynote speaker will be Dave Reichert, a 2024 candidate for governor and former King County Sheriff. Reichert and other political speakers are not endorsed by the Lacey South Sound Chamber, but are invited as an educational means for locals to hear directly from a candidate for the state’s different elected offices.

Meet Gubernatorial Candidate Dave Reichert at the Upcoming Forum Luncheon

Before his 33-year career in law enforcement, Reichert joined the Air Force Reserves in 1971. He then transitioned to the King County Sheriff’s Office and was eventually elected as King County Sheriff where he served for almost a decade.

While in law enforcement, Reichert worked on the infamous Green River Killer case. He was also awarded Sheriff of the Year by the National Sheriff’s Association, is a two-time Medal of Valor recipient and was granted the Attorney General’s award.

In 2004, Reichert was elected to Washington’s 8th Congressional District and served in Congress until 2019. He now lives in Chelan with his wife and large extended family. You can find endorsements or read about his stance on issues like crime and safety, the cost of living, parents and children, accountability or jobs and the economy.

The Lacey South Sound Chamber Forum Showcases Candidates, Civic Issues and Community

The Lacey South Sound Chamber Forum is a great place to learn about many aspects of South Sound life. In September they hosted the Thurston County Commissioners candidate debate. Other topics have included an update on the Nisqually Tribe and Medicine Creek Enterprise Corporation with Bob Iyall, the Corporation’s CEO and Port of Olympia Commissioner.

But it’s more than just speeches over lunch. During the Forum, five to six member businesses showcase their goods and services, always happy to answer questions. There is also a dedicated time where attendees can shout-out their gratitude to fellow Chamber members in a town hall setting. And perhaps best of all is the Kidwiler Scholarship Raffle. Monies raised go to the Kidwiler Foundation, which provides scholarship funds in honor of founding Chamber member Ray Kidwiler.

If your business would like to sign up and host a table or donate items to the raffle, reach out to the Chamber’s events team at events@laceysschamber.com. That’s also where you can learn more about becoming a future keynote speaker in these monthly get-togethers.
