We are excited to announce a positive transition for after-school enrichment services as North Thurston Public Schools (NTPS), TOGETHER!, and the South Sound YMCA join forces to sustain vital services for students and families.
Last school year, the Washington State Office of the Superintendent of Public Instruction announced they would not hold a grant competition for 21st Century Community Learning Center (21st CCLC), the longstanding funding supporting TOGETHER!’s Pleasant Glade after school program. As a result of our shared commitment to continuity and accessibility of services to existing and interested Pleasant Glade families, we proudly announce the YMCA’s Y Care program will fill this gap starting this fall!
For two decades, NTPS and TOGETHER! have operated Club House after school programming at Pleasant Glade and other schools utilizing the invaluable support of the 21st CCLC program to enrich the lives of students, families, and our local communities together. Similarly, for more than 30 years NTPS and the Y have also collaborated to offer extended day learning opportunities to elementary students and families.
Moving forward, the South Sound YMCA’s Y Care program will continue this legacy at Pleasant Glade, offering engaging and high-quality programming designed to support and nurture our students.
NTPS, TOGETHER!, and the South Sound YMCA are working collaboratively to ensure a smooth transition, with enhanced resources and opportunities available to our young learners and their families. We are thrilled to continue to work alongside one another to build on this foundation and look forward to the continued success and growth of our community’s future leaders.
Registration for Pleasant Glade Y Care program will open September 15, and childcare will begin October 14. Y Care will offer after school childcare until 6pm, Monday through Friday at Pleasant Glade Elementary School, and qualifying families can receive up to 100% of childcare cost coverage through state subsidy or YMCA financial assistance programs.
Together, our three organizations extend our heartfelt gratitude to Pleasant Glade students, staff, and families, for the rich opportunities and incredible impact our collaboration made possible over the past decades and in the decades to come.
