Once our bright holiday decorations have been boxed up and Valentine’s chocolate nibbled away, there’s a bit of a lull in the calendar. These last weeks of winter are often gray, damp, cold and changeable. But this brief season is a great time to pause and reflect before the cheerful – and very busy – arrival of summer. On Olympia’s west side, The Marie Bed & Breakfast welcomes guests for a restorative staycation and visit to their first annual Mind, Body and Soul Market on April 20, 2024. It’s the perfect way to welcome spring and rejuvenate before summer.

Restore Mind, Body and Soul at The Marie Bed & Breakfast’s Spring Market

A jewel box of 1890’s glamor, The Marie B&B in Olympia is an escape from the hustle and bustle any time of the year. Recipient of awards for hotel and lodging, vegan and vegetarian cuisine and romantic getaway in 2023’s Best of South Sound, each room, shared space and outdoor setting is meticulously designed to be welcoming, peaceful and a break from the grind.

They also welcome visitors to their many events throughout the year including a Yuletide Open House, the Olympia Artisan Market, Mamas and Muffins, and Papas and Pastries. Past events have also included a plant swap, ice cream socials, holiday caroling and a Mad Hatter’s Tea Party.

This is the first annual Mind, Body and Soul Market and it takes place from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. on Saturday, April 20. It’s free, open to the public and a great outing to kick off your spring explorations.

Celebrating Relaxation, Sustainability and Green Living in Olympia

Innkeeper Emily Dunn says The Marie Bed & Breakfast team is very excited to make this part of their annual calendar. “The Mind, Body and Soul Market is a small, personal market geared towards relaxation and sustainable living,” says Dunn. “It will feature local and organic soaps, balms, salves, candles and more. Enjoy a relaxing massage, have your cards read or shop unique, upcycled journals.”

Such an afternoon fits perfectly with The Marie B&B’s longstanding commitment to local partnerships, eco-friendly products, community engagement and personal revitalization. “We are all about relaxation, self-care and all the love,” says Dunn. “Supporting local vendors and organic living is vital. These events bring in Olympia residents and people from all over. We live to share the love that radiates from The Marie, in fact the history of the home is a love story on its own.”

The Mind, Body and Soul Market also kicks off one of the best seasons. Just two weeks later the West Central Park rings in their Saturday Market on May 4. Running from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. each Saturday from May through September, organizers are still welcoming vendors, volunteers and musicians of all kinds. Simply email hello@wcpnc.org to learn more.

Find Year-Round Restful Rejuvenation at Olympia B&B

Springtime’s (occasional) sunshine, long(er) days, warm(er) weather and holidays like Earth Day have us itching (sometimes literally, so pack your antihistamines) to get outside, get moving and stay busy. So, take a moment to approach the new season mindfully and with thoughtful intentions.

Dunn and The Marie Bed & Breakfast team work hard providing a place where folks can pause, rest and recharge. Visiting colleges with your kiddo? Empty nester? Frazzled from nonstop work? Exhausted caregiver? The Marie B&B welcomes you with open arms, delicious food, soft sheets, deep bathtubs and quiet elegance.

Which pays off in your long-term health. Developing an attitude of mindfulness is healthy both now and into the future. The National Institutes of Health reports that, “Mindfulness-based treatments have been shown to reduce anxiety and depression. There’s also evidence that mindfulness can lower blood pressure and improve sleep. It may even help people cope with pain.”

But as with any new healthy habit, it takes practice. A visit to the Mind, Body and Soul Market can help. There you’ll find tools and materials that help with focus, recording your thoughts and dreams and even practitioners experienced in guiding you along the way.

Follow The Marie Bed & Breakfast on Facebook and Instagram or join their mailing list today. While visiting, hop next door for a meal at The Park Side Café or quick trip through The Rolling Pin for kitchen gadgets galore. Then finish off your last chocolate heart and clear your calendar for a visit to the Mind, Body and Soul Market.
