Anyone can have fun and be crafty with new offerings from Board & Brush. The Olympia DIY art studio is a place where naturally talented people will appreciate the abundant supplies and be ready to dive in. Those who aren’t so sure about their crafting skills will be guided, finding fun along the way to finishing impressive, individualized projects. Board and Brush is designed to bring people together with ease and comfort. Workshops, including new classes with Olympia Parks, Arts & Recreation for 2024, are the perfect venue for you and friends to create home décor, wooden signs and more.

New Activities for Youth and Adults with Olympia Parks, Arts & Recreation

Projects For the Youth

Saturday, April 13. Board & Brush has mini workshops for those from six years on up through Olympia Parks, Arts & Recreation. Younger children from ages 6 through 12 can participate in a mini worship. There are plenty of projects from which to pick and complete within the 2 ½ hour time slot.

Saturday, April 20. How about a Pizza Party for the slightly older youth, ages 12 to 18? They’ll have a slice or two and complete a mini project.

Saturday, May 18. Kids ages 12-18 can also participate in a workshop for outdoor gamers. They’ll make a big tic tac toe board (or other game) for the pleasant months outside.

Saturday, May 11. Mom & Kids play together for a Happy Mother’s Day. Mom can sip a mimosa, and everyone gets snacks. You’ll be done in time for an afternoon nap.

Adult Art Classes In Olympia

Sunday, April 7. You can create a custom door mat, adding a personalized touch to welcome people at your front door. You might want to make more than one!

Friday, April 26 or Friday, May 3. Give new life to Date Night at Board and Brush! You and your partner will chat over a glass of wine and a bit of charcuterie while making your selected project. Date Night is meant to get you away from your usual schedule and get energized.

Saturday, May 4. Board & Brush’s mini planter boxes are excellent additions for your windowsills or kitchen herb garden. All these can be fun, useful and personalized to your tastes. The Saturday morning workshop features coffee and donuts.

DIY in Olympia with Board & Brush

The Board & Brush in Olympia is a creative art studio where you get to be a “DIY Master.” For a classic sign project, you’ll be educated to understand and marvel and the beauty of the raw wood with its knots and color variations. You can sand the grains, distress the wood, add stains, as well as use stencils to personalize your project. It will look like it has been a cherished part of your home for years.

The studio is fully equipped with all the materials and tools you’ll need. Think paint, glitter, ribbons, ropes, hammers, and brushes. Instructors will be with you all the way. If you’re not in the market for a rustic sign, there are other options like serving trays, planters, or a clock. What a fun way to make a gift for a special occasion. You might also choose to etch glass on mugs, containers for pet’s treats, bowls, and other glassware.

Creative After School Fun

There are after school sessions, especially convenient for Griffin schoolers aged nine and up. on Wednesdays in April and May, students can come directly from school to Board & Brush. They’ll have various projects from which to pick, hang out with friends, and give parents time for other things.

Popular Recurring Evening Events at Board & Brush

Trivia Night has proven to be a success, so check the calendar for future dates. “People are into it!”  says Manager Erika Gulliford. There will be other nights for bingo. Adults can have beer, wine or cider. Erika is working with a wine distributor, so that people will be able to order their wine by the bottle if they choose.

Erika is freshly back from her personalized training with the franchise home office in Hartland, Wisconsin. “It was awesome,” she says. Plans are already underway for an instore face-lift with improved lighting and new paint. “The original flagship studio is really cute,” Erika adds.  She appreciated the helpful information and has been inspired to tend to the many details that make the studio welcoming.

“We want everyone to check us out,” invites Erika. You can sign up as an individual but consider bringing your friends for a change of pace activity like a Happy Hour. Your kids will want to get involved, too, for a session of their own.
