Since 1989, South South Puget Sound Habitat for Humanity has been working tirelessly to build up our communities, our neighborhoods and our citizens. They are driven by a dream and shared belief that all humans, no matter their story, deserve a place to call home. They see stable, safe and affordable shelter as the catalyst for change in someone’s story, a child’s future and a family’s success. On October 27, 2023, we have an opportunity to support and grow this invaluable work at the “Raise the Roof” Gala. This year’s event will take place at the Olympia Hotel at 5:30 p.m. where attendees will be immersed in the decadence that is mid-century style. A classy theme for a timeless American dream.

“Attendees can expect a night filled with timeless elegance, live entertainment, and a delectable gourmet dinner,” shares Amber Markland of South Puget Sound Habitat for Humanity. “From the exciting Dessert Dash to the high-energy live auction, attendees will engage in activities that promise both enjoyment and philanthropy.”
“The purpose of this gala,” adds Amber, “is to raise funds to support South Puget Sound Habitat for Humanity’s mission of providing affordable housing in Thurston County. Our goal is not just to host an exceptional event but to create a lasting impact on families in need within our community.”
Support South Puget Sound Habitat for Humanity
Community members can get involved in South Puget Sound Habitat for Humanity’s “Raise the Roof” Gala in more ways than just attending, though I think we can all agree that is the best part! We can become sponsors, volunteer or donate. Local businesses can build a partnership and offer their services. “Above all, we want the community to understand the transformative power of their involvement,” emphasizes Amber. “By attending the gala or supporting it in any way, they become architects of hope, actively shaping a brighter future for families in Thurston County.”
Amber offers an additional thank you to the “Raise the Roof” Gala committee members who volunteered to take on this important event. “Our Gala’s success is indebted to the unwavering dedication of our committee members,” she shares, “who have been meeting weekly and volunteering their time to ensure this event is nothing short of spectacular. Each member brings unique expertise, from event planning to community engagement, weaving a tapestry of skills that has shaped every aspect of this year’s ‘Raise the Roof’ Gala.”
Habitat for Humanity Homes
The South Puget Sound Habitat for Humanity “Raise the Roof” Gala is critical to raising needed funds to support ongoing projects and to launch new ones. This year’s gala is particularly special because it kicks off the building of 164 homes in Tumwater, Yelm and Boulevard in Olympia. These projects mark the largest build in South Puget Sound Habitat for Humanity’s History.
“Supporting South Puget Sound Habitat for Humanity is paramount for our community because it nurtures the essence of home – a space for growth, learning, and dreams,” concludes Amber.
“Affordable housing strengthens communities, providing the stability necessary for education, health, and economic wellbeing. By supporting South Puget Sound Habitat for Humanity, the community directly contributes to building a stronger, more resilient society for everyone in Thurston County.”
