As a child, there was nothing worse than a cold and wet Halloween night. I remember my mom trying to keep the umbrella over us as we went house to house. We would end the night with ruined costumes and soaked candy. And sometimes the sniffles. Then my mom learned about trick-or-treating indoors at our local mall. What a glorious thing! Safe, warm and dry, trick-or-treating in Olympia at the Capital Mall is the perfect way to spend Halloween. And before that, be sure to head there to find all the hot costumes for 2023.
Find the Most Popular Costumes for 2023 at Capital Mall
You really do not need to go anywhere else for your Halloween costume shopping – the Capital Mall has it all! The possibilities are endless for every member of the family, from the dog and toddler to mom and dad.
First, head inside Capital Mall and check out Hot Topic for all the cult classics – from “Night Before Christmas” to “Harry Potter” – and the newest and hottest trends such as Barbie. Spencer’s Gifts also has a lot of options when it comes to edgier costumes. Windsor, newly opened inside the mall, also has some great choices for those looking for more of a date-night Halloween look. All three of these stores are great for the tweens and young adults alike.
Already have a costume that needs finishing touches? These stores, along with Claire’s, are great places to find jewelry, make-up, hair and other accessories to finish that perfect costume. MAC is another great choice if looking for make-up for Halloween night and guess what? It’s at the mall too!
Before leaving, check out Bath and Body Works for their spooky fall candles, candle holders and plug-ins that will help set the mood for the season.
Need more costume choices? Just across the street from the Capital Mall is Party City and Spirit Halloween! Both stores have aisles of costumes. They have the hottest costumes from popular franchises like Super Mario, Fortnite, Marvel, Disney and more. You can be a witch of any kind, a noble or Dark Knight or an insane clown. Dress up like Ken, a Disney princess, or something from “The Rocky Horror Picture Show.”
What about decorations? Party City and Spirit Halloween have just what you need to turn your home into a haunted house. Look for Disney Haunted Manion and Hocus Pocus decoration items at Spirit. Party City has special Harry Potter decorations, including paper plates and cups for those wanting to have a wizard’s Halloween. And of course, both places have plenty of things that go bump in the night to give you and your guests a wonderful fright.
From spiders to tombstones and zombies to skeletons, you can find it all at Capital Mall. Save time driving from place to place while your kids make up their mind on costumes. Don’t have a car? Intercity Transport has a stop right at the mall, making it an easy shopping destination.
Trick-or-Treating at Capital Mall
Once you have the perfect costume, head back to Capital Mall for trick-or-treating in Olympia on Halloween night from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Everyone is encouraged to come in costume – no full-face masks please – adults and kids alike! Participating stores will be handing out treats to the kids. There will also be community vendors spread throughout the mall with fun activities like face painting as well as products to buy.
PLAYLIve Nation is also having their Halloween-themed, all-night game night on October 14. Wear your best costume for a chance to win their costume contest and have fun playing games all night! For information, contact PLAYLive Nation at 360.515.0746.
For more information, check out the Capital Mall website. All that’s left after a fun day of shopping is to catch the latest flick at the Cinemark in the mall – “A Haunting in Venice” is perfect for the spooky season – and figuring out how to hide all the peanut butter cups from your kids. (Tip: the vegetable drawer in the fridge is the perfect hiding spot!)
Happy Halloween!
