The South Sound Block Party has announced the lineup for its 2023 festival taking place Friday, August 25 and Saturday, August 26 at the The Port in Olympia, Washington.
Headlined by the critically acclaimed 4AD artist Tune-Yards and glam-pop, icon-in-the-making Jake Wesley Rogers, the two-day festival boasts some of the most talked about national and international touring acts alongside some of Olympia’s own up-and-coming artists.

The mid-size festival boasts a diverse and exciting lineup with sets from indie rock darlings The Moss (Salt Lake City), Seattle’s Terror/Cactus, Nashville’s Sunny War and Olympia’s own, Oranj Goodman, Daisies and The Lowest Pair.
Along with 15+ live bands over two days, SSBP23 will again have local vendors and food pop-ups, a VIP lounge, a large bar and beer garden, games, and more – all along the shores of the Puget Sound. The annual community event aims to highlight music and local commerce at an affordable price point while providing revenue, jobs, and experience for the working music and production communities in Thurston County.
Organizers and patrons alike felt last year’s first ever South Sound Block Party was a great success and the festival hopes to become a summer highlight for the area. “We want to continue to shine a light on the local community and local bands while also bringing some national headliners to town for a great weekend,” said founder and producer Christen Greene (she/her). She followed up, “One of our missions is to help highlight, preserve, and contribute to the legendary Olympia music scene for years to come. Last year we saw a community that embraced and enjoyed the event and we’re so grateful for their support. We’re excited to come back for year 2 with a little more ‘umph.”
SSBP23’s lineup shows a certain, je ne sais quoi of indie cred and pop sensibility while still maintaining a, ‘something-for-everyone’ approach.
Headliner Tune-Yards recently contributed to the new Boots Riley film that premiered at SXSW and their latest record, Sketchy was their 5th for famed record label 4AD.
Oranj Goodman (Olympia, Wa) recently released his debut full length, 13th and Paradise. Of the record and its standout track, “Mineral” VICE said, “Oranj Goodman believes in the power of listening while creating, and honesty and curiosity power the orbit of his artistry. “Mineral” sets the tone for a momentous and sincere album to come from Goodman later this year.”
Other lineup highlights include Sunny War (fresh off her performance on Jimmy Kimmel Live), Olympia’s own Daisies (K Records) and electronic cumbia artist Terror/Cactus from Seattle.
Weekend wristbands are on sale now. General admission (GA) wristbands for the event are $75 and a limited number of VIP wristbands are $125. Children under 12 are free. All VIP wristbands include parking, a private entrance, private bar, side-stage access and more. Single-Day Wristbands are not yet on sale.
