Thurston Community Media (TCMedia) and the Olympia Film Collective (OlyFilm) announce their search for community musicians to participate in the 2023 “Live at Five” by submitting an original song for the live collaborative community variety show.
Musicians should record an original song that includes the phrase, “Live at Five” somewhere in the track. Songs may be any length between 5 seconds and 5 minutes. Tracks may be submitted as MP3’s to the email address, liveatfive@tcmedia.org. Deadline for submissions is May 1, 2023. No Compensation will be guaranteed.
Any musical genre is welcome and more than one theme song may be selected. Songs not chosen for the live show may be played for the live studio audience between takes and before and after the show. Some songs may be used to promote the live show or in future episodes of the program. The producers are looking for a variety of options. Submissions may be instrumental as long as they contain at least one recording of the phrase “Live at Five”. Optional phrases like “OlyFilm”, “Olympia Film Collective”, “TCMedia”, “Thurston Community Media”, “Olympia”, “Lacey”, “Tumwater” and “Thurston County” would also be appreciated.
“I’m a musician myself and I know how hard it is to get your music heard. This project will be viewed by hundreds of people so if your track is selected, you will be heard,” says program producer, Robert Kam.
Live at Five will air live on Xfinity channels 22 and 77 on Saturday, June 3, 2023. The community is invited to be a part of the studio audience on that date or they can watch the program from home if they have Xfinity cable (Comcast) in Thurston County. The program will re-run throughout the year on the same channels so if you miss the live cablecast you will be able to watch it later.
Auditions:
There is still time to audition for Live at Five if you want to be an actor in the program. The final audition will be Saturday, April 22nd from 12-4 pm.
Actors can make an appointment by emailing liveatfive@tcmedia.org or they can show up at any time between 12 and 4 pm. Resumes and headshots are helpful but not required. No need to prepare a monologue.
Live Show:
The live television show will be on Saturday, June 3rd from 5-6 pm. Actors performing in the live show must be available on Friday, June 2nd from 6-9 pm for the dress rehearsal and on Saturday June 3 from 3-6 pm for the live show If you are not available on those days you may still participate with the planning and writing or by participating in one of the digital shorts.
