The nonprofit International Mermaid Museum hosts a quarterly art display featuring work by local residents. The latest show opened on January 1, 2022, and is titled “Blowholes and Breaches: Whales and Dolphins of the Pacific Coast.” This theme focuses on the two most prominent marine mammals that share the open oceans with mermaids.

Nearly 20 local artists work was selected for this juried gallery. In all the museum’s shows, art patrons purchase pieces directly from the artist and pick up the art at the end of the event. The museum does not take a commission on the sale. The display is part of the museum’s effort to support the amazing local art community.

The museum is located on the grounds of Westport Winery Garden Resort halfway between Westport and Aberdeen on the Washington Coast and is open daily from 11am to 6pm.

There is no charge to visit the gallery and gift shop. To explore the museum’s exhibit hall there is a $3 admission fee for those over age 5.

The International Mermaid Museum is dedicated to teaching ocean ecology from seashore to sea floor immersed in mermaid mythology uniting world oceanic cultures. In addition to being self-sustaining, funds raised by the museum are dedicated ocean ecology curriculum and scholarship for students seeking careers in the marine industry.
