South Puget Sound Community College (SPSCC) today announced that 95% of the college’s 448 full-time employees, faculty, and adjunct faculty have been vaccinated against COVID-19, one week ahead of the state’s October 18 educator vaccine mandate deadline.
“These numbers reinforce what we already know,” said SPSCC president Dr. Timothy Stokes. “Our staff and faculty care deeply about our students and are willing to do what it takes to keep our students learning and reaching their educational goals.”
As a fully vaccinated campus, SPSCC has also required students taking classes with an in-person component to be vaccinated or have an approved exemption on file. Now in week four of the quarter, SPSCC is serving over 1,000 fully vaccinated students in-person, and an additional 3,000 online.
In addition to the 425 employees who are fully vaccinated, three are in the process of becoming fully vaccinated and 19 have approved exemptions.
