Westport Winery earned three double gold medals and two Best of Class awards at the 2021 International Women’s Wine Competition held on May 11 and 12 in Santa Rosa, California.

Courage, the winery’s Sagrantino (a nearly extinct red Italian varietal) was awarded 96-points by the judges earning it a double gold medal and Best of Class. Westport harvested the grapes for this incredibly bold wine at Inland Desert Nursery in the Yakima Valley AVA. The label features original art by winery co-owner Kim Roberts. A portion of the proceeds from this wine benefits the American Lung Association. McCleary artist Tyler Hansen created the art commemorating this label in the winery’s 15-acre outdoor sculpture garden.

Bog Berry Blush, Westport’s popular cranberry Gewurztraminer blend, earned a score of 95-points from the judges along with a double gold medal and Best of Class award. The winery is located on Washington’s beautiful Cranberry Coast home to many Ocean Spray cranberry farms. The Gewurztraminer was picked from 30-year-old vines at Red Willow Vineyard. This wine pairs perfectly with summer fun, fall holidays, and winter retreats. Tokeland artist Wally Mann’s depiction of the historic Furford cranberry picker is on the label. Fittingly this wine benefits the WSU Research Station and Cranberry Museum in Long Beach, Washington. Hoquiam artist Carrie Larsen created the walk-through sculpture honoring this selection.

Dawn Patrol, a special blend of Riesling from both Red Willow and Elephant Mountain Vineyards, along with luscious raspberries, brought home another 95-point score and a double gold medal. Some proceeds from this wine are dedicated to supporting Harmony Hill Cancer Retreat in Union, Washington. Acclaimed wood sculptor Jeffro Uitto of Tokeland created the giant razor clam sculpture located in the sand trap of the winery’s 9-hole executive golf course. The Dawn Patrol label was painted by Camarillo, California, watercolorist Darryl Easter.

Each of these wines, along with over 30 other award-winning selections, are available for tasting daily at Westport Winery Garden Resort.
