While our Independence Day events were canceled this year, there are still plenty of ways to celebrate the Fourth of July at home. We are talking lawn games, backyard barbecues, and more. Host a red, white, and blue celebration and make new family and neighborhood traditions.

Tumwater Parks & Recreation is hosting a Virtual 4th of July. Watch memories from past events and entertainment from a few acts that were scheduled to perform at this year’s festival. Be sure to pop into our virtual Facebook event throughout the day on the Fourth, but don’t miss the following scheduled activities.

Fireworks in Tumwater

A friendly reminder to residents and visitors celebrating Independence Day in Lacey, Olympia, and Tumwater – fireworks may not be sold, purchased, or discharged in our communities.

Novelty devices such as snakes, glow worms, and party poppers are allowed. Sparklers and all other types of fireworks including those purchased elsewhere may not be used in our cities.

Like most cities, the number of calls to 911 increases on the Fourth of July holiday. With voter-approved regulations in place, fireworks complaints may add to the call volume. When there is a high demand for law enforcement, fire, and emergency medical services – we place our highest priority on protecting lives and preserving property.

Our community needs to know that Tumwater Fire and Police departments will do their best to respond to complaints about fireworks. The reality is there simply is not enough staffing in either department to respond to each illegal fireworks and noise incident around the Fourth of July, calls for immediate emergency life safety assistance must be prioritized to ensure public safety

Reducing the number of noise and illegal fireworks complaints to 911 will allow emergency calls to be answered as quickly as possible. To report the sale or discharge of fireworks in Tumwater, call 360-704-2740. Call 9-1-1 to report a fire or injury.
