Today, in response to Governor Inslee’s Stay Home, Stay Healthy order, Thurston County has moved to an essential services model. This is in effect today through Monday, April 6, 2020. The Governor, or Board of Health under the recommendation of the Health Officer, may extend the time period.
The term ‘essential services’ refers to Thurston County work and staff that are essential for public health and safety, as outlined in the Governor’s Order. This includes, but is not limited to:
- Office of the Board of County Commissioners
- Public Health
- Dispatch, Law Enforcement, Corrections, Courts and Justice systems
- Emergency Management
- Coroner’s Office
- Certain Public Works functions
- Building and Land Use Permitting
- Information Technology
- Payroll and Financial Support
- Central Services to Support Essential Services
- Other Offices as identified in their Non-Essential Plans
“We are working with our appointed directors and elected officials to continue as many county services as we can while keeping our staff and the public safe through following the directives set by the Governor,” said Commissioner Chair, John Hutchings. “These are unprecedented times and we are all learning as we go. Thank you to our community for being patient with us as we work through this.”
