The City of Tumwater is cancelling all Council Worksessions, Advisory Board and Commission meetings, effective Thursday, March 19, through Monday, April 14, 2020.

Tumwater City Council meetings will continue as scheduled with modified agendas.

Tumwater City Council is following expanded guidelines issued by Governor Jay Inslee to close public gathering spaces and prohibit gatherings of 50 attendees to minimize the risk of spreading COVID-19. The City passed Resolution No. R2020-008 (attached), declaring a local emergency due to COVID-19, and has closed all City facilities and implemented social distancing measures.

According to the CDC and the Department of Health, this is critical to slow down the outbreak, to reduce the chance of infection among high-risk populations, and to reduce the burden on health care systems and workers, which includes our own emergency medical employees.

The City is committed to maintaining essential services for our community during this declared public health emergency – police, fire, public works, and utility services. Tumwater City Hall and all City facilities are closed until further notice. Although our facilities are closed to the public and in-person services at City Hall are suspended, staff are available by email or phone at (360) 754-5855. The impact to services will vary based on the department.

More information about changes to services is on the City website at  www.ci.tumwater.wa.us/our-community/covid-19-response

If you have any questions, contact John Doan, City Administrator at 360-754-4120.
