South Puget Sound Community College (SPSCC) welcomed Washington Secretary of State Kim Wyman to the Percival Restaurant on Tuesday, January 7, for the presentation of two special awards to the college’s culinary and catering teams.

Secretary Wyman presented the Best Taste Award and the Best Presentation Award to SPSCC Culinary Arts faculty, culinary students, and the catering team for their work in support of the Washington State Combined Fund Drive (CFD) during the 2019 Masquerade Ball.

The ceremony began when Secretary Wyman presented SPSCC President Dr. Timothy Stokes with the public service challenge coin for his visionary leadership and influence that has helped raise more than $52,000 in five years. Secretary Wyman then presented awards to the culinary and catering teams for their excellent service and efforts.

SPSCC won by popular vote of the nearly 800 attendees at the Masquerade Ball, competing with local restaurants including Casa Mia, Indian Summer, and Little Creek Casino. The most popular dish of the night was bulgogi beef with Asian coleslaw served in a wonton taco shell.
