The Capital High School girls volleyball team defeated Shelton High in 3A South Sound Conference play Tuesday, October 1, in West Olympia 25-10, 25-11, 25-9 to continue their undefeated season. Capital (6-0, 6-0 in 3A SSC) moves on to play at Yelm Thursday, October 3, and will finish the first half of its league schedule against Timberline in Lacey October 17.

Cougar head coach Katie Turcotte was pleased with her team’s performance. “We just really tried to come in and do our job and focus on our side of the net.” Capital, which placed third last year at the 3A State Tournament and won the tournament in 2017, brings a strong team into this year’s play.

“We are feeling good but not great, and have some things we have to work on moving forward. We haven’t hit our stride yet but we are excited about the season,” Turcotte proclaimed.

Shelton (1-6, 0-6 in 3A SSC) will look for its first league win at Central Kitsap this Thursday. Shelton Head Coach Mike Fox’s team was missing one of its leading players and brings a mix of seniors and underclassmen to this year’s team.
