The annual Kick in the Grass Tournament – Washington’s longest-running youth soccer tournament – held its 40th edition July 19-21, 2019. Hosted by the Tumwater Soccer Club, the event featured top youth teams from Washington and Oregon.
A total of 108 teams competed over the three-day tournament with matches being held at Black Hills, Capital and Tumwater High Schools, Tumwater Middle School, and Pioneer Park.
Girls’ tournament champions included Timber Barons G10 (U10 green), TC United G09 Navy-Katona (U11 green), TSC Spartans (U12 green), Southlake Select (U13 green), CYSA Timber Barons U13 Black (U13 red), CYSA Timber Barons White (U14 green), LSDSC Flash (U14 red), Groovy FC 04/05 (u15/16 green), HYSC Matrix (U15/17 red), Vancity Valor G03 (U16/18 green), FC Edmonds Black Ice (U18 green) and Vancity Valor G02 (U18/19 red).
Boys’ tourney winners consisted of Blackhills FC B10 Black (U10 green), Kent Coty FC B09 Black (U11 green), NSC Hazards (U11 red), Storm King Legend B08 (U12 green), United SC B08 Force (U12 red), TSC Tornadoes (U12 white), Alliance FC (U13 green), LSDSC Blasters (U14 green), Wenatchee FC Sitio B05 (U15 green), LSDSC United Blue 05 (U15 red), LSDSC United White 04 (U16 green), OUSC Vipers (U18/19 green).
