The Oly Town Artesians kicked off their Washington State Super Cup campaign with a resounding 7-0 win over the ISC Gunners at Black Hills High School on Sunday afternoon. Jason Fairhurst scored twice and Angel Trejo-Delgado and Geovanny Vazquez each scored once and added an assist and the Artesians were firing on all cylinders to move into the semifinals of the inaugural state tournament.

Oly got things rolling right away when Olympia High School grad Neil Boyal scored his first goal in his first game for the club slotting one home in the tenth minute. Nine minutes later Trejo-Delgado made it 2-0 after finishing a pass from Vazquez. The Artesians kept the pressure high and Trejo-Delgado intercepted a pass from ISC goalkeeper Sean Snyder and found a streaking Fairhurst who scored on the empty net to make it 3-0 in the 30th minute.

The Gunners had their best run of play early in the second half with a handful of shots that Artesians goalkeeper Sawyer Price handled easily. Then in the 62nd minute, after just subbing in moments earlier, Shelton’s Manny Nicasio unleashed a bullet from 35 yards out that found the top corner and made it 4-0. Fairhurst scored his second four minutes later, Christian Segovia did a tap dance down the goal line and found the back of the net in the 74th, and Vazquez capped it off, scoring Oly’s seventh goal in the 87th minute finishing off the big win.

The Artesians advanced to the semifinals and will find out their next opponent and their game location this early this week. They will face either Nido Aguila Club America, Kirkland FC or the Grays Harbor Gulls in the next round.

Oly Town returns to EPLWA action on Sunday, June 9 when Bellingham United visits Black Hills. It is Artesians 500 night and Oly Town will attempt to pack the park by offering soccer clubs, teams and other non-profits the opportunity to raise some funds by selling tickets.
