Join us at Westport Winery Garden Resort on Saturday, November 10 at 12:00 p.m. to launch the Bubba Mullikin Memorial Disc Golf Course. We planned this event for what would have been Bubba’s 24th birthday. Westport Winery will give FREE discs for those attending the unveiling.
One of our favorite team members, Toni Ann Dawson, was engaged to Bubba when he was tragically killed in a motorcycle accident two years ago. Bubba and his father, Bill, were avid disc golfers having played in seventeen states. Bill and Toni Ann helped winery co-owner Kim Roberts design the course in the Beauty From Ashes Garden. As a putting course Bill said it will be great for players wanting to improve their short game saying, “You drive for show and putt for dough.”
We asked local artists and welders to create unique sculptures for each of the tone poles. Bill (a teacher at Aberdeen High School) selected the seventh for his contribution focusing on yellow, Bubba’s favorite color, and pineapple imagery (Toni, Bubba’s mother, and his sisters, all added pineapple tattoos after his passing). All the other sculptures will be rusty allowing the 7th to shine.
Artists Yoseph Adams, Abe Singer (who fittingly created the Phoenix Rising sculpture for the ninth hole), Tyler Hansen, Buck Hugelen, Bryerlee Perry and Jason Armstrong, all contributed metal art made from used propane tanks (donated by Propane Etc) to this project.
This course is open daily from 8:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. It is FREE to play. Affordable discs are available for purchase at the winery. Golfers are welcome to bring their own discs (putters recommended) as well. All ages are welcome on the course, however, guests under age 18 must be accompanied by an adult.
Bubba’s family and friends hosted an inaugural disc golf tournament this summer to raise funds in his name for the Trade Technician Scholarship at Aberdeen High School.
Guests are welcome to leave donations for the scholarship or for Food Ball. Westport Winery Garden Resort and the Sea Glass Grill are open daily for breakfast, lunch and dinner, from 8:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. and until 8:00 p.m. on Friday and Saturday.

In 2016 Westport Winery was honored as one of the top twenty most-admired wineries in North America by Winery & Vineyard Management Magazine. The business earned Best Winery, Best Wine Shop, and Best Boutique Winery for 2016 by South Sound Magazine. They received the Grays Harbor Environmental Stewardship Award in 2015. They are finalist to the Best Washington Family Business competition by Seattle Business Magazine. And in 2011 they garnered Washington Winery to Watch by Wine Press Northwest.
In Oregon, Westport Winery Seaside is open daily from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Westport Winery TASTING @ Cannon Beach is open Saturday and Sunday from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
Family-friendly Westport Winery Garden Resort is located on the corner of Highway 105 and South Arbor Road halfway between Aberdeen and Westport.
