It was another great night of racing at Grays Harbor Raceway as the 3/8-mile clay oval was back in action after a week off.  The 360 Sprints made their return to GHR in several weeks and were joined by the Shipwreck Beads IMCA Modifieds, Cut Rate Auto Parts Street Stocks, USAC Ford Focus Midgets, and Hornets.

Defending 360 Sprint track champion J.J. Hickle, of Quilcene, was the car to beat during the Sprint Car main event.  The race would go pretty much incident free and Hickle would simply run away with it and go on to pick up the win.  The victory would mark the second time he has visited the winner’s circle this year in his Meyer Electric/Kitsap Powdercoating/Don Ott Racing Engines #3 XXX.

The Shipwreck Beads IMCA Modifieds would have the race of the evening.  The J&F Automotive/Bayview Ready-Mix #8 Sidebiter of McCleary chauffeur Jeff Foster was the initially the car to beat but he would lose the lead after a restart just before the halfway mark.  From there it would be a battle between several cars for the race lead.

The battle would not stop until the final lap of the race when three cars would go side-by-side all together coming to take the checkered flag.  Tom Sweatman of Cosmopolis would be determined the winner for his first win of the season in his Sweatman Trucking/D&D Dyno/Ewing Engines #11 entry.

After Saturday night it would be the ninth time this season Jason Tole has graced victory lane in the Cut Rate Auto Parts Street Stocks.  The Hoquiam driver, in his Western Washington Construction/Crowell Brothers Automotive #34 machine, would lead pretty much the entire distance even though he was under considerable pressure in the closing laps.

Snohomish’s Chase Goetz would continue to flex his muscle in the USAC Ford Focus Midgets.  The teenager had no issues up front once he secured the lead.  Goetz would pick up his eighth win of the season in the Great Western Transport/Elma Lanes/Speedmart Inc. #91 Beast.

The Hornets would see the Pure Clothing/John L. Scott Real Estate/John’s Plumbing #14 enty of Jeff Daniel earn his fourth victory of 2013.  The Ocean Shores driver would have his hands full but managed to keep all challengers in check.  Daniel now has the most wins of the season this year in the Hornet division.

Grays Harbor Raceway will be off next weekend but will be back in action on Saturday September 28th.  Classes in action will be 360 Sprints, Shipwreck Beads IMCA Modifieds, Cut Rate Auto Parts Street Stocks, USAC Ford Focus Midgets, and Hornets.  For more information be sure and check out www.graysharborraceway.com.
