Eugene, Oregon’s Kyle Miller would show his mastery at the Grays Harbor Raceway on Friday July 12th in the first of six races for the Northwest Wingless Tour Non-Wing Speedweek. A total of twelve entries would sign in on the registration sheets and would put on one heck of a race.
In the early stages of the main event Sterling Kane of Albany, Oregon would set the pace in his Fuel Injection Enterprises #89 XXX. Kane would lead but pressure would be brought to him courtesy of youngster Garret Johnson of Poulsbo, Washington. Johnson would then lead briefly in the Suquamish Tribe #3G entry but would lose it to the Van Raden Industries #25 XXX of Ariel, Washington’s Pat Canfield.
Canfield would keep the lead despite heavy pressure being brought by local hot shoe Evan Margeson from Tacoma, Washington. Margeson would briefly takeover the lead but a caution would nullify his pass. On the ensuing restart Kyle Miller would make a pass on the high side on lap ten to take over the top spot. Once Miller would take the lead he would not relinquish it as the Gary’s Subaru Service/Finest Detail #10 XXX entry. Miller would keep the lead and earn his third victory of the 2013 campaign.
Evan Margeson would finish in second in his TFC Plating #50 XXX while earning third was Pat Canfield. Mike Romig from Vancouver, Washington was fourth in the Herz Precision Parts #22 Eagle and completing the top five finishing order was Garret Johnson in fifth. Earning fast time of the night was Evan Margeson with a 16.296 second lap. Heat race winners were Sterling Kane and Kyle Miller.
The NWWT will be back in action tomorrow night for round two. The ASCS-National Tour will also be on hand for what expects to be another great night of racing. Pit gates open at 2:30, front gates, 4:30, and racing starting at 6:30.Tickets prices for both days are $23.00 for Adults, $20.00 for Seniors/Juniors (13-18)/Military, $10.00 for Youths (6-12), and Children 5 and Under are FREE.
