Olympia Orthopaedic Associates announces a new running training program – Run for Success. The Tuesday night lectures begin January 22 and continue through February. All workshops will be held at the Oly Ortho Physical Therapy Eastside Building located at 615 Lilly Rd. NE, Suite 240 in Olympia.
January 22
Running Technique: We will discuss simple steps to proper running form and technique. Concepts presented will include: cadence,foot position, posture, and key strengthening and stretching exercises to maximize running efficiency and minimize risk of injury.
January 29
Arming Yourself: Shoes, Equipment, Technology: This session will discuss various running shoes and what may or not be appropriate for you. Other fun running technological devices such as watches, GPS devices, heart-rate monitors, and assistive music will be addressed.
February 5
Purposeful Training: Approaching each training session with a purpose will maximize performance and minimize the risk of injury. You will learn to use your HR monitor, pace and perceived exertion to facilitate the greatest physiological adaptations.
February 12
Nutrition and Hydration: Nutrition and hydration strategies during the various periods of training, training recovery, pre-race, race day, and post-race will be covered.
February 19
Overuse Recognition: Strategies for preventing, recognizing and treating overuse injuries will be presented.
February 26
Mental Preparedness: “As a man thinks, so is he”. Strategies to mentally prepare for your race will be presented. One of the biggest pitfalls of not completing an endurance event is the lack of mental preparation.
When?
Lectures will be every Tuesday at 7pm starting January 22, 3013
Cost?
The training program includes a free six-week lectures series and two, one hour assessments which may be added for $175
