Touting great facilities, high quality uniforms, and a proven model of teaching kids to love baseball, Black Hills Baseball encourages youth to sign up for a team.

Black Hills Baseball is affiliated with Cal Ripkin Youth Baseball, a division of Babe Ruth Youth Baseball.  Black Hills Baseball serves Thurston County youth between the ages of six to twelve.

According to league President, Lisa Furman, “The Cal Ripken philosophy is about teaching a love of baseball to youth while providing skilled instruction and a competitive environment.”

Furman also notes that the price to enter the league is a great deal.  The Rookie league (6 – 8 year olds) fee is $90 and the entry fee for other divisions is $160.

Families new to baseball will appreciate the league’s attention to creating even teams.  “When the teams are evenly matched, the games are more enjoyable and there is more opportunity for instruction,” adds Furman.

Rookie coaches can bring an entire team of twelve players.  As teams move up in play, fewer players are brought to a team and more of the roster is completed via a draft.  All coaches receive official Cal Ripkin instruction and have passed required background checks and interviews.

As kids grow up in the Black Hills Baseball organization, they may become more interested in competitive play.    The league recorded both the 12U and 11U state champions as well as a third place finish for the 10U all-star teams.

Quality uniforms, matching major league affiliations, are an added bonus.

Black Hills Baseball utilizes the Regional Athletic Complex (RAC) fields as well as the diamonds at Bucknell Park and Wonderwood Park.  Furman adds that games are consistently played in central locations at quality fields and says that they have the least number of rainouts in the South Sound.

“Black Hills Baseball is competitive youth baseball at its best,” summarizes Furman.
