LACEY, WA: Lacey Parks and Recreation will host its 2nd annual “Rampage at the RAC” extreme obstacle course event on Saturday, October 13, 2012, at the city’s Regional Athletic Complex.
The 110-acre athletic complex, known for its state-of-the-art sports fields, will be transformed into a 5K challenge course that will require participants to crawl through pit of mud, race over junk cars, run up a steep hill of sand, careen down a giant slip-and-slide, high-step through a field of tires, crawl through a giant tunnel, navigate a web of ropes, slither in a pool of green gel, and leap across fire (among other things). More than 2,000 runners and spectators attended last year’s event.
Space for runners is limited. Online registration, available at active.com, closes Friday, September 26, or when filled. The $59 fee includes an event T-shirt, with participants registering before September 3 receiving a discounted rate of $45. Spectators are admitted free on a first-come basis.
