The Thurston County Fair’s ‘Berry Best’ Pie Contest will be held August 4. Entries will be accepted Saturday, August 4 from noon to 2 p.m. in the Thurston Expo Center. Any kind of berry pie will be accepted with the exception of those requiring refrigeration (with cream, custard, cream cheese, or Jell-O based, etc.) Recipes with the contestant’s name, address, and phone number must accompany the pie. All contestants get into the fair free on Saturday, but please note that the parking fee is NOT waived. Final judging for the cash prize sponsored by Spooner’s will be at 4 p.m. on Saturday, August 4.
