Benefit Concert a Success!

The POSSCA Benefit concert sponsored by Olympia Acoustic Music on Saturday was a great success in every way. Over forty people were treated to a wonderful performance by Seattle-based singer/songwriter, Larry Murante. The event raised enough money to provide one POSSCA scholarship to a graduating high school senior who will study the arts in college. Special appreciation goes to Cortney Kelley who donated her studio for the show.

POSSCA (Patrons of South Sound Cultural Arts) has been promoting the value of art in education and community life in South Puget Sound since 1968. Along with the scholarship program, POSSCA puts new and refurbished musical instruments into the hands of public school students long on talent but short on funds. In addition, POSSCA has funded the artists who created much of the public art in the South Sound.  For more information, see: http://www.possca.org/

Olympia Acoustic Music is a volunteer-run concert series in its second season, bringing outstanding folk and acoustic singer/songwriters to Olympia. The series features local, regional and national touring artists in six performances per year between October and May. Each show provides the audience with an opportunity to meet and interact with the artist. Concert donations go entirely to support the musicians.
