Dear Readers:

There is a unusual recall of electrical breakers that most likely was installed in new construction this spring or could have been installed in a home to replace a failing electrical panel.

The recall is for breakers used in Siemens and Murray electrical panels manufactured in June and July of (2010), this year,  for single and double pole breakers  15 through 50 amps. The issue is that some of the breakers may have a non-conforming “spring clip” plug- in assembly that fails or breaks thus not maintaining a proper connection in the panel board. Overtime this could lead to excessive temperature, arcing at the connection point and in extreme situations could lead to fire or personal injury – property damage.

There are several ways to identify if you have the recall breakers – for more information contact Siemens at 1-800-756-6996 or visit their website at www.usa.siemens.com/pluginrecall.
