The Detention Lottery:An Immersive Theater Experience

To benefit local immigration support, this one-act theater experience takes you into a detention courtroom. Written by award winning playwright, Maggie O’Donnell, this drama is based on her experience as a former immigration attorney. In 2019, this script received national recognition by the Dramatist Guild of America. In Olympia, this presentation, directed by Amy Youngblood, includes an audience “Talk Back” with local immigration attorneys & representatives of Olympia’s immigration activist groups. Funds raised will benefit 1) “Mi Chiantia”, which provides youth educational & cultural programs & 2) “Vecinos Unidos” which is an all volunteer group that provides help in our community to people who are affected by detention, deportation or the fear of it.
