Olympia School District Community Forum

March 20, 2013 @ 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm

On March 20 the Olympia School District will hold a community forum to share details regarding plans and designs for the new Olympia Regional Learning Academy. The meeting will get underway at 6:30 p.m. at the District’s Knox Administrative Center located at 1113 Legion Way SE.

The district will construct the new 66,000-square-foot facility on the vacant lot located on the corner of Boulevard Road and 15th Avenue SE (site of the old McKinley Elementary). The building will have approximately 170 parking stalls, athletic fields, playground equipment, a covered play shed, with a goal of being a net-zero facility (which means it will produce as much energy as it uses). The new $30 million facility is made possible thanks to voters who passed the Olympia School District’s
Capital Improvement Bond in 2012. Construction is expected to get underway in late summer or fall.

The Olympia Regional Learning Academy (ORLA) is currently housed at the old John Rogers Elementary school and serves more than 500 students through its iConnect, Homeschool Connect, and Montessori School programs. The public may find more information about ORLA and its programs and
services at:  http://orla.osd.wednet.edu/ ]http://orla.osd.wednet.edu/.

The March 20 community forum will provide citizens with an opportunity to review the latest plans and ask questions of District staff and the project’s architectural and construction team. Anyone unable to attend the forum with questions about the project may contact the District’s Capital Planning & Construction Department at (360) 596-8560.
