Learn The Basics of Business Planning

The Thurston County Economic Development Council (EDC) Business Resource Center Manager, Daryl Murrow, will lead a free workshop titled “Basics of Business Planning for the Start up Business” at the Lacey Timberland Library on Friday, January 11 from 3 to 4:30 p.m. The workshop will be repeated on the second Friday of every month through 2013.

Participants will learn the benefits of business planning, the elements of a good plan and the basics of financing. They’ll also receive information on the EDC’s no-cost community resources for startup businesses.

Lacey Timberland Library staff will open the workshop with information about the library’s business materials and the TRL online resources, which are available 24/7. Online resources include Reference USA for market research; Small Business Reference Center for full-text business-related legal books, trade journal articles and forms; and the Business Plans Handbook for examples of plans. The online sources are called reference databases on the library’s website at www.TRL.org. During open hours, library information desk staff assist with research, including helping people track down statistics, data and other details.
