OLYMPIA –Families looking for an alternative K-5 program within the Olympia School District are invited to attend a virtual Information Night for Lincoln Options Elementary School. Families in the Lincoln Service Area and siblings of currently enrolled students, who are entering at kindergarten level, have priority enrollment to Lincoln Options. We also welcome families in the Olympia School District residing outside the Lincoln service area who are interested in an alternative program. A lottery, which takes place in the spring, determines the priority for enrolling out of service area students. We ask that families attend an Enrollment Information Night to assist in making an informed decision about whether the Options Program is the right fit for their needs.
Enrollment Information Nights will be held from 6 – 8 p.m., March 3 and March 9, via Zoom. At the informational meeting, families will hear first-hand from teachers about what makes Lincoln Options unique. They will learn more about the school program, philosophy, volunteer involvement, and the lottery process itself.
The Options Program offers an alternative learning environment featuring multi-age classrooms, developmentally appropriate curriculum, thematic learning, and a high level of family participation. Cooperation, social justice, and sustainability are taught and practiced. Typically, children stay with the same teacher for two years in order to help learning and strengthen the family-school relationship. Families are also encouraged to participate in the classroom and governance of the school.
Additionally, the Olympia School District is hosting an informational event for families who will have children in kindergarten in the 2022 – 2023 school year. This event, ‘Countdown to Kindergarten,’ is Saturday, March 5 via Zoom.
