Dear Friends,
I am reaching out to invite you to a special community screening of the documentary The General – Vietnam In The Age of To Lam, taking place in Olympia, WA.
The General is a timely and internationally discussed documentary that examines contemporary Vietnam through the voices of journalists, activists, and dissidents—many of whom have faced imprisonment or exile. Rather than a traditional political biography, the film offers a rare and human-centered perspective on issues of economic development, civil liberties, and the lived experiences behind global headlines.
The documentary has been screened internationally across Australia, Europe, and Thailand, as well as in major U.S. cities such as Washington, DC, Boston, and San Diego—often generating strong audience engagement and discussion.
This screening is being organized by member of the local Vietnamese-American community and will include a post-film discussion (Q&A), offering an opportunity for audience engagement and deeper conversation.
