On Friday, Aug. 21 and Saturday, Aug. 22, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., WSDOT Olympic Region is joining forces with the Tumwater Rotary for a drive-thru, Covid Safe food drive benefitting the Thurston County Food Bank.

Drop off your donations at WSDOT’s Olympic Region Headquarters parking lot located at 5720 Capitol Boulevard SW – across the street from the Tumwater McDonald’s. Financial donations will also be accepted at a separate tent in the parking lot. Volunteers will be collecting and sorting donated items. COVID-19 Safety protocols will be in place.  (Donors drive into the site and remain in their vehicles.  Volunteers will remove the packages/food from their trunk, back seat, or back of a pick-up truck and be on their way.)

In addition to Rotary and Food Bank volunteers, the 2019 high school 2A state champions Tumwater T-Birds will be on-site as will members of the Black Hills High School Football team.  Belmont Trucking, a Tumwater Trucking firm, along with Cardinal Glass, are donating the use of a 48’ semi-truck trailer to transfer food to the Food Bank.  All-City Cleaning, a local Covid-certified cleaning company, will sanitize all surfaces and items at the site location throughout the event.  As a token of kindness, Tumwater McDonald’s is providing “Be Our Guest” cards for menu items.

Donors will drive into the site and remain in their vehicles as the volunteers will remove the packages/food from their trunk, back seat, or back of a pick-up truck.

Donations to the Thurston County Food Bank can also be accepted through the Combined Fund Drive website. Cash and check donations will also be accepted at the Food Drive site.
