Community Flower Show Returns to Thurston County Fair
After two years of cancellations due to the pandemic, the annual Fair Flower Show returns this summer from July 27-July 31 at the Thurston County Fairgrounds in Lacey, WA! The public is invited to participate by entering their prettiest roses, dahlias, vegetables, herbs, designs, crafts and many other types of horticulture. There is a special section of the show just for youth!
The show is titled “150 Years of Fabulous: A Patriotic Flower Show” as the Fair will be celebrating their 150-year anniversary. Garden club members of the Black Hills District are responsible for this annual event, dedicating endless hours in planning, set up, preparing entries, and hostessing the event every year.
The show will contain these sections; horticulture, floral design, youth entries, educational exhibits and botanical arts.
To enter the show, you should first review the Exhibitor Guide on the Fair website. All the details you need can be found here: https://www.thurstoncountywa.gov. Once on the home page, run your mouse over the word Fair (in the menu banner) – then Exhibitor Information – then click on Exhibitor Guide-Floral Division. Within the Guide there are phone numbers listed of individuals you can call with your questions.
Important dates:
Monday, July 25 , 4:00 -7:00 p.m. Bring your exhibits to the Thurston Expo Center of the fairgrounds. It’s located just inside the main gate on your left. Since the fair won’t be open yet, you can enter the grounds and park close to the building. Garden club volunteers will assist you with your entries.
Tuesday, July 26th, 10:00 a.m. – noon. Your exhibits will be judged.
Wednesday, July 27th the fair opens at 10:00 a.m. and you are welcome to visit the show!
