I grew up going trick-or-treating at the mall. It seemed like it rained every Halloween. I remember loving it! Tons of candy – we would make the rounds more than once – and we stayed warm and dry. We could sit and get a warm hot chocolate while sorting our candy. My mom loved that she didn’t have to drive around or try and keep track of us in the dark. When we got older, it was a safe place we could be dropped off without my mom having to worry. The Capital Mall is pleased to continue to give families a safe, dry and warm atmosphere on Halloween night. It’s tons of fun too!

Sponsored by Chick-fil-A, Capital Mall trick-or-treating will happen from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on October 31, 2026. Participating stores will hand out candy to those under 12, but the whole family is encouraged to get dressed up, even the dog!

After filling your buckets and bags, head to the Macy’s Court for some good, old-fashioned Halloween fun for the whole family. They will have a photo booth you won’t want to miss: Get your pictures taken in your costume, save one photo for yourself and drop the other into the costume contest box! The mall will select five costumes and post them on social media for the public to vote. The winner will receive a Capital Mall gift card!

Stay and enjoy the live DJ! Get a glitter tattoo and have a balloon animal made. Still chilly? You can enjoy my Halloween tradition and grab a hot chocolate or coffee at Northwest Grind.

Make memories with lots of treats and no tricks at the Capital Mall!

Or, if your kid is more into the “put on a themed sweatshirt and call it a costume,” these stores have those too. They also have cozy, licensed hooded blankets that make great additions to costumes to keep you warm while still on theme. Koneko Café has some cute costumes as well as accessories.

Teens and adults can also find trendy costumes at Windsor, including devil-related items, cowboy cheerleaders and princess gowns galore. Windsor would be an excellent choice for those looking for a Dolly Parton outfit – rhinestones are on full display here!
