During the August 18 City Council meeting, Councilmember Nicolas Dunning resigned from his position, effective August 18, 2026.
The Lacey City Council has 90 days from the date of the vacancy to appoint a Lacey community member to fill the position. The City is accepting applications for the Position #3 vacancy until 5 p.m., Friday, September 18, 2026.
To be eligible for appointment, applicants must:
- Live within Lacey city limits for at least one year before appointment.
- Be a City of Lacey registered voter at the time they submit their application.
The appointed Councilmember must be able to commit personal time to preparing for and attending City Council meetings, completing Council assignments, and participating in community activities as needed.

Interested individuals can complete an application online.
The City Council plans to conduct in-person interviews between October 7 and October 29 in the Lacey City Hall Council Chambers. Interview dates and times will be announced once they are scheduled. Interviews will be open to the public.
