One of the best things about summer is the long, warm days – perfect for getting out of the house with family and friends. Grab a coffee in the morning, pop into a few shops, then maybe it’s pizza for lunch before continuing to more stops. Sounds perfect, right? There is really just one thing that would make this day better – donating to a great cause! On August 26, 2026, your day out with friends or family can make a difference to local kids simply by doing what you already do – eating out and shopping! This year’s Shop, Savor, Support is a Thurston County-wide, all-day event benefiting All Kids Win.
“The best part is you can tailor it to your preferences – plan a coffee date with a friend, have lunch and dinner with family/partner, go treat yourself to something fun,” says Karlee Keith, event director. “Make an ordinary Wednesday fun while supporting All Kids Win!”
How Shop, Savor, Support Works on August 26
The Shop, Savor, Support event makes it easy to support All Kids Win – all you have to do is go out to participating businesses – like Dirty Dave’s Pizza Parlor, Giddy-Up Coffee Corral in Tenino, and Olympic Crest Coffee Roasters – the businesses are donating a percentage of sales from that day to All Kids Win. That’s all there is to it! “With the cost of food going up, the need for weekend food assistance increasing, and many of our supporters needing to tighten their own belts, this fundraiser is more important than ever to our budget,” shares Kelly Wilson, All Kids Win co-chair.
RSVP on the Shop, Savor, Support Facebook event page. There, you will see all the participating businesses as the event draws closer. Skip cooking for a day, treat yourself to some shopping and help local youth. Maybe take your coworkers out to lunch that day or move date night – it all helps. On August 26, all kids win – and so do you! (And, bonus, the local businesses get a little boost on a normally slow day, so really, it’s a win-win-win!)
“Every dollar raised helps All Kids Win provide weekend food bags and basic necessities to students facing food insecurity throughout Thurston County,” shares Karlee. “Together, we can ensure more children have access to the resources they need to learn, grow, and thrive.”

Helping Local Youth Succeed in School and Life
We’ve all been there. It’s not our lunch hour yet but the stomach is growling. It’s so hard to focus on work! I personally can get lightheaded. I start to not be able to form sentences or remember words. Some of us get hangry – lashing out at our coworkers even. Now imagine if your last meal was 24 hours ago – or even longer! This is the reality many youths in our area face. Hunger affects our ability to handle life, especially things like school and work. All Kids Win is a locally-created and locally-run 501(c)3 nonprofit that keeps every dollar right here in the community – making sure kids are fed by providing weekend food bags to students in need.
All Kids Win serves middle and high school students in North Thurston, Tumwater and Olympia; K through eighth grade students at Wa He Lut Indian School; and K through 12th grade students in Tenino, Rainier, Yelm and Rochester.
“Each week, 38 dedicated volunteers distribute 700–900 food bags across 49 schools,” shares Karlee. “This does not include the many additional volunteers who support daily operations and assemble the bags each week – it’s truly a community effort.”
Be sure to RSVP on the event’s Facebook page and share with your Facebook posse. During the event, use the #shopsavorsupport hashtag so everyone can share in the fun you are having while supporting a great cause.
And, if you happen to own a local business, they are still looking for participants! Participating businesses choose the percentage or amount they would like to donate, and All Kids Win will help promote their involvement through social media, email marketing, and community outreach, explains Karlee. You can email events@allkidswin.org to get involved.
