Do you wish you had someone to help you get your steps in? Maybe you know it’s easier to walk or jog when you have someone to chat with, or you’re new to the area and want to make some friends with a shared interest. Whatever your reason, the Lacey Joggernauts want you to get your steps in with them! The group, started in 2018, is now under new management and they are making some changes, including more fun and events.
“Ultimately, we want to have everyone show up every Saturday, have fun, meet new people, make new friends and promote a healthy activity,” shares Tim Chenette, Lacey Joggernaut board president.
New Management for Lacey Joggernuats
In 2025, the group decided they needed to make some changes. The founder of the group had to leave due to work reasons, and the board was down to just a few people. It was too much work for them. It was expanded from just a couple to seven members, helping to spread out the responsibilities, explains Tim.
The current board of directors is:
- President: Tim Chenette
- Treasurer: Kim Rohr
- Secretary: Cara Myhre
- Events Coordinator: Lori Provoe
- Apparel Coordinator: Theresa Carmichael
- Membership Coordinator: Nancy Carlson
The vice president position is currently pending.
The new board is working to make the group even more fun, with more opportunities for involvement with the community. “As president, I’m trying to use my 25-plus years in management with a city recreation department to help guide the board and participants to be the group they want to be given our available time,” Tim shares.
All members are welcome to the board’s quarterly meetings.

Thurston County Running Club Wants You
All are invited to join this free group, which operates as a nonprofit. “You simply show up, sign in and you’re part of the group,” says Tim. This includes your well-behaved, leashed dog!
And, whether you walk, jog or run, they have a path and some friends to share it with. Every Saturday at 9 a.m., they meet up in the parking lot next to Thrive Fitness (5401 Corporate Center Loop SE, Lacey) for a new route. Routes are usually 5k (3.1 miles) or 8k (5 miles), and you can choose the distance.
Tim also said the group is changing how it runs events. “The group was putting on one or two big events per year, and now we’ve stepped back and are doing year-round, smaller events,” he shares.
Events this year have included an Earth Day litter pickup; Capitol Marathon water station; trivia/prize giveaways; scavenger hunt; a dog chew toy giveaway day; Doughnut Daze and more coming soon!
You can learn more about future events or contact the group via the Lacey Joggernauts’ website or join their Facebook group.
