Sandwiches and ice cream go together like Jimmy John’s and Baskin-Robbins! These two popular eateries now operate together in two Thurston County locations: one near the Tumwater Fred Meyer on Littlerock Road, which opened in May 2026, and another in Yelm, which opened in November 2025.
Locally owned and operated by Thurston County residents Adam Teske and Ryan Wildy, the long-time friends have made this community their home. Adam is raising a family and Ryan has a fiancée.
All Menu Items and Services Offered at the Jimmy John’s and Baskin-Robbins Shops
Menu items for the Jimmy John’s and Baskin-Robbins restaurants include everything one would find at their individual locations, including catering and delivery.
On the sandwich side, this includes the full menu of sandwiches and wraps, plus the freebies that you can add like hot peppers, ranch, and crispy onions. It also includes the unwich, a low-carb sandwich where lettuce leaves replace the bread.
The ice cream side scoops 24 flavors for sundaes, smoothies, cappuccino blasts, Creature Creations, cakes and pies. Can’t decide what flavor you want? They offer samples on their signature pink spoons. “Customers may sample any of our flavors,” says Ryan. “As many as they want.”
Customers can dine at the restaurant, pick up an order, or get delivery of all menu items. Jimmy John’s offers in-house delivery service and both offer third-party delivery services, including DoorDash, UberEats and Grubhub.
Jimmy John’s and Baskin-Robbins Offer Fresh and Flawless Ingredients
Ryan describes their menu ingredients combined with top notch customer service as “fresh and flawless.”
Sandwiches include fresh vegetables, sliced meat, tuna salad, and other ingredients, all prepared daily starting at 5 a.m. “We serve good, healthy food,” Ryan says.
Adam chimes in, “Our turkey’s actually turkey and our beef is USDA choice beef.”
Also, they bake their bread every four hours, allowing them to advertise “Fresh Smells” in neon on the front of the restaurant. All sandwiches are served on French bread less than four hours old.
Their goal to deliver flawless customer service starts with well-trained employees, like the person who gets a sandwich started after an order is placed – the bread starter, or certified mayo master, also known as the quarterback of the kitchen. “You can’t just have someone walk in off the street and throw them into bread starting,” says Adam. “It’s one of those things where they have to know the whole menu.” The bread starter calls out the order ticket, starts the sandwich by putting the mayo and veggies on the bread, and then makes sure the sandwich moves down the line properly.
Adam and Ryan also want people to enjoy themselves when they come into the restaurant. Kids – or kids at heart – may choose a balloon from a balloon tree near the entrance. The Baskin-Robbins Creature Creations, creature-themed cups of ice cream topped with loads of sprinkles and a matching creature topper, come with a free crown for kids or kids at heart to wear.
Their efforts haven’t gone unnoticed. They received the Jimmy John’s Franchise of the Year Award in 2026. “That’s because of our team,” Adam says. “Show love to your customers. Show love to your employees,” Ryan says.
Local Thurston County Businessmen, Buddies Since College in 2006
Adam and Ryan met in college in 2006, as students at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, where Adam convinced Ryan to join him as a delivery driver for the campus Jimmy John’s. After they graduated from college, Adam got a job in the marketing department at Jimmy John’s corporate headquarters in Champaign. He convinced Ryan to join him there, too. The two friends traveled the country helping Jimmy John’s restaurants with their marketing and sales.
After about a year in this role, Adam was promoted to be a business coach and moved to Denver to help franchisees open and operate restaurants primarily in the Mountain West region of the country. Six months later, Ryan got promoted and moved to Denver too. “Why wouldn’t I want to move with my best friend?” Ryan asks.
Toward the end of their three-year contract as business coaches helping franchisees, they decided, “Why not us?” Some markets, like Champaign and Denver, had lots of Jimmy John’s. Then a colleague in the company’s real estate department suggested they check out Olympia.
“We fell in love with it. The scenery is beautiful. The people are great. I love the mountains and hiking and he loves the water,” Adam says.
They opened their first Jimmy John’s restaurant on Martin Way in Olympia in March 2014. Besides this location and the two Jimmy John’s and Baskin-Robbins combos, they also own and operate Jimmy John’s at the Lacey Crossroads and in Hawk’s Prairie off Marvin Road. They own and operate another six sandwich shops in Pierce and Cowlitz counties, and in Wenatchee, for a total of 11.
Their favorite Jimmy John’s sandwich? “I eat everything,” says Ryan.
“The #9 with hot peppers,” says Adam. “It’s been my go-to for 17 years.”
Their favorite ice cream? “OREO Cookies ‘n Cream,” Ryan says.
“I love Gold Medal Ribbon,” says Adam.
