Timberline and River Ridge high schools’ boys varsity baseball teams from Lacey met on April 21 and 23, 2026, for the Puget Sound League (PSL) 3A baseball game. The first game on Tuesday, April 21, was hosted by River Ridge. Timberline won 8-1, where junior Adrian Williams gave up one hit over six innings to lead the Blazers. Thursday, Timberline took the series after a 10-1 win.
Timberline head coach Doug LaPalm was happy with his team’s performance and the energy and effort his team gave. “Our bats started slow, but we adjusted well as the game went on,” LaPalm added. “We took advantage of some situational hitting and base running and that paid off [Tuesday].”
Timberline (7-7, 7-6 PSL) sits in third place in the Nisqually Division of the PSL and is looking for consistent play to try to move above North Thurston, who currently sits in second place behind league leader Peninsula out of Gig Harbor.
“We are junior and senior heavy this year and we have the talent, but we just need to fine-tune some execution things,” noted LaPalm.
Fourth-year head coach for River Ridge, Ben Rood, is happy with the growth of his team and hopes to finish strong with only a few games left in the year. “Our main focus this season has been coming together as a group and building trust in one another,” stated Rood. “Our leaders are three of our seniors, Jalon Fulton, Kaiee Kopp, and Aaron Leu, who have been playing together since kindergarten at Seven Oaks, and that connection really shows. They’re the heartbeat of our team and will ultimately determine how far we can go in making a push for the playoffs.”
River Ridge (8-8, 5-8 PSL) will look to reset moving towards Districts, held May 12-16. River Ridge plays at Black Hills in non-league play Saturday at noon and then will meet Mount Tahoma and Central Kitsap. Timberline takes on Silas and Bellarmine in PSL crossover meetings next week.
