This will be our third McTeacher’s Night for Community Schools, and each year it becomes more meaningful for everyone involved. What started as a simple fundraiser has grown into something much deeper; a night that brings together families, educators, and neighbors in support of our students and the community we share. We are thankful for Mike Bowers who is about giving back to the community. “McTeacher’s Night brings our community together giving families a chance to share a meal with teachers and school staff, have fun with friends, and support their school through the 20% of every purchase Bowers Enterprises proudly donates during the two-hour event” says Mike Bowers.
“I remember being in 4th grade and feeling so excited walking up to my local McDonald’s knowing I was about to see my peers and educators at McTeacher’s Night. Seeing teachers outside of school was always surprising but seeing your teacher work at McDonalds? You couldn’t beat that,” says Diana Perez Community Schools Director.
When we first met Mike Bowers, we knew it would be important and fun to bring this to the Tumwater community. It was clear that this family-friendly and school-focused fundraiser greatly aligned with our mission to connect students and families with resources or services that help maximize their educational experience. McTeacher’s Night is no longer just an event; it’s a tradition. A tradition of showing up, giving back, and strengthening the bonds that make Tumwater such a special place to live and learn.
Within Tumwater, the Community Schools Program transforms schools into a place where educators, local community members, families, and students work together to strengthen the conditions for student learning and healthy development. Our program provides case management services to families navigating housing instability and other barriers with access to food, healthcare, transportation and more. Our case managers work directly within the schools to offer and connect students to resources or services that impact their academic success and general well-being outside of the classroom. Our team understands that when students feel secure, valued, and have their basic needs met, there is no limit to what they can achieve! We strive to strengthen the bridge between schools, local resources, and community to support the well-being and education of students in the Tumwater School District.
We are grateful for business owners like Mike at Bowers Enterprise for partnering with our program and schools to offer opportunities for students to build a stronger sense of community. We value our schools and community members that support our program year-round to ensure students are being cared for holistically. Please support our work in advancing the education and well-being of students by joining us on April 28 from 5-7 p.m. at the Tumwater McDonalds.
