Raising kids requires endless information, inspiration, energy, support and the ability to juggle dozens of situations at once. When facing an autism diagnosis, it can be difficult for parents to know where to turn for the resources to meet their child’s needs. The Washington Autism Alliance works around the clock expanding access to healthcare, education and services for those with a diagnosis of autism, intellectual and/or developmental disability.
For more than 10 years, Boggs Inspection Services has dedicated the month of April to their annual autism fundraiser. Reach out to learn more about how you can join in with a contribution that impacts lives in and around our community.

Nearly 15,000 Members Help the Washington Autism Alliance Support Families
For nearly 20 years, the Washington Autism Alliance (WAA) has been a powerhouse for advocacy and support. The founding members originally banded together to fight for the right to autism health benefits. Within three years, they achieved health care coverage through Washington state insurance as well as numerous improvements for those with private insurance.
To date, nearly 70,000 Washingtonians benefit from therapies covered by the Alliance’s work, which saves their families and caregivers $25,000 to $50,000 annually.
WAA is also the country’s only legal advocate for the autistic. They’ve helped more than 14,000 clients access services and ensured right to coverage for nearly 70,000 people. At the end of the day, their service values are calm, confident competence; creative, cutting-edge advocacy; and nimble, flexible and responsive service for anyone who needs them.
Every year, Boggs Inspection Services donates a portion of each inspection completed during the month of April to the Washington Autism Alliance’s ongoing efforts. Boggs’ long history of charitable giving also includes an annual fundraiser for the Rachel Lynn Henley Foundation for childhood cancer research, awareness and family support.

The Washington Autism Alliance Welcomes Your Support All Year Round
Autism Speaks estimates that 1 in 31 children and 1 in 45 adults have autism in the United States. Thanks to improved testing and diagnostic tools, many are receiving this diagnosis by the age of five. Early detection allows families to start the journey for resources and support early on.
The experts at Autism Speaks explain that more than 20% of requests to their Autism Response Team (ART) are families looking for local community support. They may be looking for peer groups, recreation opportunities or parent support groups.
After diagnosis, finding this kind of engaged support is often the primary need of local families. The Washington Autism Alliance provides Navigation Services which are tailored to the specific needs of the individual and their caregivers. After resource coordination, WAA offers multi-system navigation of resources across the individual’s entire lifetime. This may include special education coaching and advocacy, private insurance appeals and crisis stabilization.
There is even a virtual group Supporting Parents of Autism (SPA) as well as bustling events calendar. Activities include the “Day Out for Autism Fun and Resource Fair” and other networking, community-building and educational sessions.
Families can register for WAA services online, enroll as a volunteer, advocate as a legislative advocacy ambassador, give directly or organize a fundraiser and even become a corporate sponsor. Sign up for the WAA newsletter to stay informed and check out the 2026 Legislative Session Recap while on their website.
As winter fades, it’s time to harness that spring fever by making a comprehensive to-do list. The changing seasons are rough on our homes and routine maintenance prevents costly repairs down the line.
