Timberline High School hosted Lacey rival North Thurston on January 27, 2026, in a Puget Sound League (PSL) 3A WIAA boys swimming meet. North Thurston defeated the Blazers 91-78 in a meet that honored the five seniors from Timberline for Senior Night. Both teams will reset as they prepare for post-season district or state competitions.
North Thurston brought a smaller group to the meet, with only 12 of the 16 swimmers competing. Head coach Laurel Smith praised the fight of her team with four swimmers sick. “We are learning to stick together as a team and rooting each other on and I love seeing that in my team,” Smith stated. “I have four very experienced swimmers and nine new ones, so this year we have really grown to learn to build a team atmosphere and then also fight for stronger times every meet.”
Timberline coach Caleb Linggi was happy with some breakthrough best times for his team’s last meet of the season even after the loss. “Whether it’s because athletes are eager to give it one last shot before the season is over, or the tight competition between the two teams pushes kids to perform, I think a lot of athletes were content with how today went, as well as myself,” Linggi noted. “We are a new team this year, with the freshman and sophomore class making up two thirds of our team, but they were very dedicated, and I can’t wait to see how they do next season.”
Swimmers with qualifying times will move on to the District III competition at Rogers High School Aquatic Center on February 6-7, 2026.
