The top-seeded North Thurston Rams won their first volleyball state title, defeating second-seed Mt. Spokane High School in straight sets (25-21, 25-21, 25-20) and redeemed a tough championship final loss to Ridgeline in 2024. Coach Jackie Meyer was ecstatic about the amazing season the team produced. “This year was about unfinished business and we wanted to make it back to the championship game and take home the big one,” Meyer commented. “I was thrilled with the team’s effort and dedication to make this championship happen. We were hungry and it showed in our disciplined play at the tournament.”

Addy Conner led the Rams in kills with 83 for the whole tournament. Anna Sheeran, the team’s libero, had 72 digs. Setter Sammi Humphrey had 122 assists.

In 2A play, Tumwater defeated West Valley and Archbishop Murphy after a mid-tourney loss to Sehome to secure the fifth-place trophy. The trophy was the first state trophy for Tumwater since 2016.

First-year coach Kennedy Croft praised her team and the growth they had during the year. “All year long, they showed incredible character and committed to the habits that don’t always show up on a stat sheet: communication, composure, preparation, belief, and selflessness, and I’m so proud of how they grew in every way this season – physically, mentally and as teammates,” Croft noted. “Battling to a fifth-place finish at state feels like a true reflection of their grit, their growth, and the new standard they’ve set for Tumwater Volleyball.”

Timberline High School Girls Volleyball Finishes 7th

3A Timberline, who competes in the Puget Sound League (PSL) against North Thurston. entered the tournament as the 15th seed but finished 7th, the best run in Timberline Volleyball history.

Blazer head coach Matt Monnastes was incredibly proud of his team and the foundation they produced for the future. “I’m fully invested in this program and in these athletes and we’re building something stronger, something sustainable, where competing at State isn’t the exception, but the expectation,” remarked Monnastes. “The team was very resilient and we showed that by losing only one match the entire tournament and clawing our way back in nearly every set. That kind of resilience, heart, and fight doesn’t come from one person. It comes from a group that refused to quit on each other.”
