Experience Olympia & Beyond (EOB), the destination marketing organization for Thurston County, is pleased to announce the appointment of Shauna Stewart as Interim Chief Executive Officer. Stewart, who previously served as CEO from 2015 to 2020, brings deep organizational knowledge, strong relationships, and extensive tourism leadership experience that uniquely position her to seamlessly step into the role. She will officially begin on December 1, 2025.
An Interim Hiring Committee, comprised of members from the Board of Directors, Tourism Promotion Area (TPA) and other well-respected community leaders, was formed to evaluate candidates and recommend a leader who could provide immediate leadership for the organization. After a thorough review and in-person interviews, the committee recommended Stewart for the position, and the EOB Board of Directors unanimously approved the recommendation at its meeting on November 18.
Stewart brings significant achievements in destination development from her prior tenure, extensive executive leadership experience, and a proven ability to guide the organization during this transitional period.
“We are thrilled to welcome Shauna back into this leadership role,” said Shina Wysocki, Board President of Experience Olympia & Beyond. “Her strong community relationships, deep understanding of Thurston County, and extensive tourism expertise make her an invaluable asset. The staff and board are excited for her return and confident in her ability to support and guide us during this important time.”
As Interim CEO for the next six to nine months, Stewart will work closely with staff, partners, and stakeholders to maintain organizational momentum while supporting the board in the hiring process and planning for long-term leadership.
“It is an honor to step into the interim CEO role at Experience Olympia & Beyond,” said Stewart. “This organization plays a vital role in strengthening our region’s economy and deepening our sense of community pride. I look forward to supporting the staff and engaging our stakeholders to ensure the benefits of tourism are felt broadly throughout Thurston County.”
